Sherry and Joe got married at one of my favorite venues in the Atlanta area, Kimball Hall! I first met Sherry over the phone after being introduced by Kimball Hall’s coordinator and planning extraordinaire, Julie. She told me “Sherry is so cute and bohemian – you’re going to love her!” And she was so right!! After talking with Sherry for a few minutes, it was clear we were going to get along juuuust fine!
Sherry and Joe decided not to do an engagement session since their wedding date was so close, so instead, we decided to meet up at The Nook next to Piedmont Park for a couple drinks…and some Tachos, of course!
That was when I met Joe, and I got to hear their adorable story!
After being introduced by two friends, Sherry and Joe hit it off pretty quickly. If you know anything about Joe, then you know he’s someone who can light up a room and make anyone laugh! (He has this awesome humor that made me feel like I was talking to two close friends and not a bride and groom I was meeting for the first time!)
Their first date was at Table & Main, another Roswell staple, and as they say in the storybooks, the rest is history! Their months of dating all led to a weekend trip they were planning to Savannah.
While in Savannah, Joe surprised Sherry with tickets to an Avett Brothers concert! Sherry loves the Avett Brothers, and so when he followed up his surprise by saying “I was really hoping you’d go as my fiancé,” she was so excited that she almost didn’t realize what that meant!!
Of course, she said YES! And that’s what brought us to their incredible wedding day!
I arrived at Kimball Hall, so excited to begin the day. As Sherry would meet me a few minutes later, I began photographing her details, and when I saw her wedding dress, I about flipped my lid. Her dress was a gorgeous full lace creation from BHLDN, one of my all-time favorite bridal stores! They’re so bohemian and classic…all at the same time!
Sherry, her daughter and her mom arrived and all three got ready together. As her daughter, Savannah, helped her into her dress, I could see the excitement come to life in Sherry! Once that dress is on, it all starts to feel like a fairytale.
Joe arrived, looking dapper and as happy as I’d ever seen him! We walked outside, and I prepared him for their first look, when Sherry would come around the corner and they could start their wedding day together.
Sherry began walking toward him, and when she turned him around he had the biggest smile!!
“You can photoshop out these tears, right?” was the first thing Joe said to me after they got to take each other in, hug and kiss on their wedding day. Nope, I’m keeping those tears in these photos, Joe!
Sherry and Joe chose to have an intimate wedding with only 70 close family and friends. And while that doesn’t sound like a lot of people (the average in Georgia is 150!), this group knew how to party!! The day was full of fun photographs in the photo booth and celebrating life together!
Thank you so much for asking me to celebrate with you!! I’ve never felt so invited in by a group of people than I did with you and your family, and I’m grateful for the chance to spend your wedding day with you! Enjoy these photos forever – I hope you never stop laughing together!
A huge thanks to the vendors and the amazing team at Kimball Hall for always creating a magical atmosphere for my brides and grooms! Every time I shoot with you guys, it’s always a pleasure and one of my favorites!
