Ben & Sabena’s Temple Wedding

There aren’t enough words to describe how amazing Ben and Sabena are! In fact, I’ve tried once before after their engagement session when they threw caution to the wind and danced in the rain. After that experience with them, I knew that their wedding day was going to be a very special one. Not only for me, but for each one of their friends and family members who were lucky to attend!

Like most wedding days I capture, the festivities began in the morning as the girls got ready. I arrived, and Sabena was already stunning (she could be soaking wet and still look beautiful – here’s proof!) But it was more than her looks that radiated joy. It was her smile and excitement for the day to truly begin!

Vigilante Cosmetics finished her bridal team’s hair and makeup and we chatted all things wedding and honeymoon. But soon it was time to gather Sabena’s details and make our way to the Temple! I love the elegance of historic buildings. They seem to emanate tradition, and The Temple is definitely one of those places. It was perfect setting for Ben and Sabena (oh, and the interior is breathtaking!)

Soon it was time for Ben and Sabena’s first look! I’m so glad that they shared one because as Ben turned around to see Sabena in her wedding dress, on their wedding day, the emotions got so real! They immediately hugged, laughed and filled each other in on what their mornings were like. It’s so evident how much these two love each other! They are more than each other’s significant other, they are best friends, confidants, soul mates. Anyone can tell that they were meant to be together!

And as we all gathered for their Ketubah signing ceremony, Ben and Sabena couldn’t keep their eyes off of each other. From one ceremony to the next, the anticipation kept growing for their marriage to be official. And it was so exciting for me, as a photographer, to witness such incredible Jewish traditions! My personal favorite?

The breaking of a glass!

After their ceremony in the sanctuary, their rabbi told us all what it meant to break the glass in Jewish tradition. The glass is an example of how fragile relationships can be, and even those strongest in love can fall on hard times. So they break the glass so that their marriage will never break! And that as long as it takes to put every small, individual piece of glass back together, that . is how long they will share happiness together.

Judging by how much joy and effort Ben put into breaking that glass, I’ll say that Ben and Sabena will share a lifetime of happiness…and then some!

Congratulations you two! It was such an honor to capture this day for you, and I’m so thankful I got to witness the beginning of such a beautiful marriage!
