Atlanta + Coastal Georgia + The Southeast

let's be friends!

Laura and Scott flew me out to Colorado to capture their engagement session this summer, and it was WILD! In four days, we traveled all over, hitting destinations like Red Rock Canyon, Central City, Boulder, the Flat Irons, Lost Gulch Lookout, Grand Lake and the Rocky Mountain National Park. It was remarkable!

In fact, we did so much in Colorado I’m splitting their engagement session into TWO blog posts, not one. And we’re kicking it off with our first day of adventures!

Laura and Scott’s Destination Engagement Session in Colorado

If you follow along with my adventures on Instagram Stories, then you know that I had the honor of being asked to capture Laura and Scott’s wedding. Laura is an incredible wedding photographer based in New Jersey. She shares my obsession for elephants and The Office, and she’s equally in love with tacos (but really, who isn’t?). We have so much in common, including our names and profession!

Scott is Laura’s perfect match. He’s outgoing, charming, adventures and funny. And y’all, the way he looks at Laura… It’s beyond precious! Even better than all of his charm, he put up with a TWO DAY engagement session and hiked the Rocky Mountains in a suit. If that doesn’t prove his love for Laura, what does?

I’m so excited to finally share the images we captured during our time in Colorado! Just a heads up: these locations are beautiful and viewing them can lead to a serious case of wanderlust. You’ve been warned!

Day 1 in Colorado: Red Rock Canyon, Flat Irons & Lost Gulch Lookout

We began our adventures in Colorado at Red Rock Canyon! This iconic setting is one that I’ve always wanted to visit. The red rocks highlight the countryside with so much bold color; it was a fun change from all of the greenery in Georgia! While we didn’t get to capture any images inside the amphitheater due to some stolen phones and a car chase through gold mining country (that’s a story for another time), I’m so glad we got to start their session in such a fun place with all the good vibes!

The Flat Irons Outside Boulder

Our second session took place in the valley below the Flat Irons near Boulder! In fact, when we finished up our session, we enjoyed some Bar Taco for tacos and margaritas (I told you, they’re a dream couple)! The Flat Irons are incredible in person and provide the perfect backdrop for photos. While capturing part two of their session in the field below, we saw so much wildlife! What a wild and adventurous location!

Lost Gulch Lookout

We ended day one of their engagement session in my favorite spot yet: Lost Gulch Lookout! When Laura first asked me if we could do their engagement session in the mountains of Colorado, these images are what I dreamed of capturing! The haze of the last touch of sunlight, the rocky cliffs, Laura’s flowing skirt and Scott’s debonair suit: DREAMY! And as the last bit of sunlight faded, we were treated with the most beautiful sunset. It was the perfect end to a perfect day!
