Of all the posts I’ve written, this is the most surreal. When I first started my photography business, I didn’t know Garrett existed. In fact, I was pretty confident I’d be single for a long, long time, and I was a-okay with it (Read this post, if you’re curious!) I loved the path I’d chosen. My career and dreams came first, and as a gal living in a small town south of Atlanta…I wasn’t in the best location to meet a guy.
After a full day of shooting wedding inspiration, I was invited to a bonfire (by another guy!), and Garrett was there. We started talking, and he smiled that crinkly-eyed smile that I love, and the rest, as they say, is history. In February, it will be three years since that night, and here we are, planning our May wedding in Hawaii! Life is good and so is God.
The first question I get asked when people find out I’m getting married is “now who’s going to be shooting your wedding??” I laugh every time! I love that this question gets asked because it means I have so many friends involved in the planning. So many of you care, and I’m amazed by that! To answer that famous question, my wedding photographer is Natalie of 4 Corners Photography!
I’ve known Natalie in the business world, but we’ve never met in person. Her work is timeless, elegant and beautiful. I’ve always admired the way she can read light and capture her couples and the scenery around them as a work of art. Combine that with Hawaii, and I think we can make magic!
When Garrett and I met her, she was so kind and chill (read: exactly what we wanted!) Even though I’m comfortable around a camera, I’m not at all comfortable in front of it! And I love him, but neither is Garrett! So we knew we wanted someone who could calm us down and take control. Friends, if you’re like us, find a photographer who makes you feel this way, too!
Arabia Mountain immediately came to mind for our location. It’s my favorite spot near Atlanta, and only a 45 minute drive from where we live. It’s private most of the time, and the views are spectacular. The perfect spot to bring a bottle of wine and watch the sun go down!
Natalie, I’m so glad that we chose you as our photographer! Thank you for your soft direction and your playful spirit. You made us feel like rock stars. You laughed with us (not at us!) and the end result is something I can’t quite grasp. These photos are that beautiful. You’ve given us such a gift in these memories, and we can’t wait to bring you to Hawaii! Aloha, friend!
