Colorful Rainy Wedding at The Stave Room in Atlanta

Jess and Cate’s wedding at the Stave Room is one for the books! I’ve been looking forward to seeing these two ladies get married for almost a year, and I’m so excited to finally have them grace this little blog of mine!

Jess & Cate’s Rainy Wedding Day

Jess and Cate are best friends and their love is contagious to be around. After their engagement session with their adorable pup Teddy, I knew that their wedding day would be overly joyful.

The day began quietly with rain filling up the sidewalks outside their Buckhead hotel. Despite the downpour, Jess and Cate were nothing but happy. Luckily, the hotel gave them rooms across the lobby from each other. They could see into each other’s rooms, waving and wishing each other the best morning as they got ready! But soon, it was time to pull those blinds closed and get to work!

I began my day with Cate and her lovely details. She and Jess chose the Atlanta skyline as their inspiration for their wedding day. After all, what better landmark to feature than the city that brought them together? Their invitations featured the city skyline, and Kate Turner Studio created a chalk version behind their bar at the reception. It was incredible!

While Cate continued to get ready, I walked over to Jess’ room to begin capturing her details, from her incredible custom suit by The Black Tux to the Pride socks that kept her feet warm! The vibes in both rooms continued to be joyful, and bouncing from room to room was so much fun!

After both brides were ready, we made our way to The Stave Room! Jess prepared to see Cate for their first look, while Cate’s sisters helped her step into her dress. One of my favorite parts of Jess and Cate’s wedding day was the love their family gave them. In all ways, they were supportive, kind, compassionate, and blessed. It was such a treasure to see such a tight knit family come together to shower these ladies in love!

First Look at the Stave Room

Finally, it was time for the first look. And y’all, it’s a tear jerker!! Prepare to sniffle as you see these photos! Once Jess turned around and saw Cate, the flood gates opened, and she lost it. I loved this moment for them! They gushed over each other’s wedding day looks and exchanged several “I love you’s.” They are precious!

We captured some portraits outside, covered by the rain, but quickly guests began to gather, Jess and Cate went into hiding while their ceremony space gathered with their best friends and families. And then it was time to get married!

Jess’ dad escorted her down the aisle, and there she stood proudly waiting for her bride. Everyone stood as Cate came down the aisle with her father, and Jess saw her…it was like she hadn’t seen her all day. What a sweet moment!

Soon, all of the portraits were taken and it was time to party! I’ve never seen a group more excited to get down on the dance floor than this crew. They had so many surprises in store for each other, most of them coordinated dances! With Cate’s background in theatre, it completely made sense, but it surprised me all the same! My favorite was the surprise dance that Cate choreographed with her wedding party. Jess had no idea what was happening, and her reaction was priceless!

Thank you!

Jess and Cate, your wedding was incredible! Thank you so much for asking me to capture your day, but more than that, thank you for pulling me in as your friend. I witness so much love on your wedding day, and words can not express the honor you gave me by bringing me onto your dream wedding team! Love you both!

This is where I love sharing recent weddings and sessions, my travels, and life with my husband, and our three pets. When I'm not capturing a wedding day, I'm often enjoying the outdoors with Garrett, playing with our pups, or finding a new place to call home for the weekend. My passion is telling love stories, and I hope I get to fall in love with telling yours.
