Lauren & Connor
Lauren and Connor’s wedding took place at the Historic Rice Mill in Downtown Charleston. I pinched myself all day, constantly turning to Garrett to ask “Is this even real??”
Our day began with Lauren and her bridesmaids at the Pink Dot Beauty Bar off Market Street. This location screams Charleston, and it was the perfect place to begin the day! Lauren dazzled us as she opened Connor’s gift. He gave her an old-school mixtape of famous love songs that reflected their relationship and included new headphones that she’d been dying to have. After all, she needed to listen to her new mixtape!
We soon left for the Historic Rice Mill, a gorgeous venue overlooking the Charleston Harbor. As her mom buttoned up Lauren’s dress, we all sighed. If Grace Kelly and Jackie Kennedy were one person, it’d be Lauren. She looked straight out of a magazine! Lauren held her bouquet, tied by an heirloom handkerchief from the mid-1800’s, and twirled in her dress as I captured her bridal portraits by the big bay windows.
Finally, it was time for Lauren and Connor’s first look! I walked with Connor out to the front of the Rice Mill, and asked him “Are you nervous?” And he said to me, “No, I’m just ready. Lauren came out through the doors, walked up to Connor and turned him around. The smile on his face said everything! They hugged, kissed, and talked about all they had done that morning.
From then on, the day was a roller coaster of fun moments! The bridal party couldn’t stop laughing together, especially when Lauren’s brother accidentally wore his father’s suit. During the ceremony, Father Bob did a beautiful job marrying L&C while Connor reached up to wipe another tear off Lauren’s cheek. And at the reception, we all had a hard time breathing because we were laughing so hard at Adam’s Best Man speech (Garrett and I cried laughing!)
My favorite moment
As their evening came to an end, Connor had a surprise for Lauren! There’s a special song between the two of them. You might think “well, that’s an odd song to call yours,” but when you hear the story of how these two began dating, it’s perfect. After the bouquet toss, Connor and his band switched places with The Vista’s to play a song for Lauren and their guests! Before we knew it, Shania Twain’s “Man, I Feel Like A Woman” came through the speakers – and the band nailed it!! Everyone was dancing and having the best time, it was the perfect way to end a perfect day!
