Holy shiitake mushrooms you guys, this one’s gonna blow your socks off!

Mia, Marvin and I made our way to Georgetown’s Waterfront Park early last Saturday morning at 5:30am. Waking up for the best light isn’t always glamorous, but it makes a huge difference in the images, trust me! As we made the drive from their home in Maryland to the historic Potomac, I kept pinching myself. Part of the reason I did this was to make sure I stayed awake! But I just couldn’t believe that we were here.

Mia & I are long time friends. We met in college during our freshman year, but we didn’t strike a friendship until later! Our friendship grew, but if we’re being perfectly honest, I was always so intimidated by Mia! She’s gorgeous, smart as a whip, determined, athletic, successful…am I taking this too far? And above all of that, she was such a great confidante to all of her friends. We became roommates our Junior and Senior years, and well, the rest is history!

Like me, Mia didn’t have boyfriends in college, though I knew many guys who were crushin’ hard on her! But she’s too smart for all that nonsense, and I think we all knew that she was waiting for a special man to steal her heart!

In comes Marvin!

If Mia is peanut butter, Marvin is her jelly! When I first met Marvin, I had high expectations for the man that my friend would come to love. Immediately, he put my cautions at bay and exceeded every one! Not only is he strong, outgoing and kind, but he’s compassionate, playful and so in love with Mia. Seeing the two of them together and laughing brought such joy to my heart! I’m so glad that my dear friend has found the man of her dreams!

For their engagement session, Garrett and I flew to their home in Maryland to stay with them for the weekend. We had so much fun hanging out with them, eating great food, and playing with their adorable puppy, Harvey! As we made plans for their photo session, we knew we’d have to get up early in order to beat the crowds of the D.C. area (hence, the sunrise session). So we got up early and made our way to the park (thank you, Alisandra Photography for the referral)!

Mia and Marvin,

I hope you cherish every one of these photos the way you cherish each other! I’m so thankful for you both, and I can’t wait to plan that trip to Boston we talked about ;D
