Elizabeth and Caleb’s Lowndes Grove Plantation wedding was a heartfelt affair full of intentional moments and gorgeous details planned by A Charleston Bride! When I arrived on site for their rehearsal the afternoon before (I love doing this for my destination weddings), I snuck a peek at the beauty of the venue. Inside, the furnishings and wall colors are an ode to the southern heritage of the plantation home. With pastel wall colors in every room, each step I took reminded me of Charleston’s iconic Rainbow Row! Looking at the venue, I got even more excited for Elizabeth and Caleb’s wedding the next day!
On the morning of their wedding, I entered the checkered sunroom at Lowndes Grove and began preparing my gear. It was a cold, overcast, and windy day, so I bundled up a little extra and set to work! Elizabeth and her ladies were on the second floor of the home. While they began hair and makeup, I began styling Elizabeth and Caleb’s wedding details. This is one of my favorite parts of a wedding day! I knew this wedding would be extra special because Elizabeth is intentional about details. Everything she purchases and promotes is chosen because it meshes with her values and style. She doesn’t pick out a detail just because it’s pretty. It tells a story, and I love that about her! My favorite details included her personalized wedding invitations and hand-painted Toms shoes by her cousin Aine Cole Art!
Quickly it was time for me to put away her details and for Elizabeth to step into her gorgeous dress from Gown Boutique of Charleston. While Caleb and his gentleman played Dungeons & Dragons downstairs (oh yeah – it was awesome), Elizabeth and her two mothers shared sweet moments together. We all shed a few tears as Elizabeth stood proudly in her wedding dress. She was a dream! And soon, it was time for three incredible first looks. First up: Elizabeth’s bridesmaids. Her three friends had the sweetest expressions when they saw her! Second: her father. When Elizabeth’s dad saw her for the first time, we all cried. I looked over to Megan Pettus Videography, and even she was tearing up! It was such a sweet moment.
Finally, it was time for Caleb to see his wife and best friend. When he turned around took her in, he looked like the luckiest man alive! I’d try and describe it, but I don’t think I could do his expression justice. Hence, why I’m a photographer!
The rest of the day carried so many beautiful moments! Guests arrived in pastel-colored buses, and Elizabeth and Caleb had The Carolina Bagpiper greet their guests at the start of the ceremony. When they said “I do,” confetti poppers burst in the air while everyone cheered! Guests were greeted at cocktail hour with champagne and warm conversation. And A Town A List brought down the house with an incredible party at the reception!
Elizabeth and Caleb, capturing your special day was an honor! Thank you for asking me to witness the start of your beautiful marriage. I can’t wait until the next we’re all together!
Another big thank you to Elizabeth and Caleb’s amazing wedding vendors. Working with you was incredible! And as if Elizabeth and Caleb weren’t already amazing, they brought me a taco! After their engagement session in Charleston last March, I said that I loved tacos, and they said they’d bring me one on their wedding day. And they remembered! How cool is that?!
