Allene and Andy’s Summerour Studio wedding was special for many reasons. Above all, they had not one, but TWO ceremonies! As a part of their family’s heritage, the pair celebrated with close family for their Chinese Tea Ceremony early in the afternoon. In the evening, they welcomed guests for a second ceremony on the grand stairs of Summerour Studio.
We started in Atlantic Station at the chic Twelve Midtown. The bridesmaids and groomsmen got ready separately, with only a hallway between them. This made my job a lot easier! As the girls finished hair and makeup, I hopped over to the guys’ room and captured a few getting ready images of them. The morning felt light and fun as Allene had the perfect playlist to set the mood. Allene first wore a traditional, red Chinese dress. Her mother dressed to match, and together they looked lovely! Shortly after getting dressed, we walked down to the lobby to meet Andy.
They shared a first look in the lobby of the Twelve Midtown before leaving for the venue for ceremony number one!
Allene and Andy’s Chinese Tea Ceremony took place in the upstairs area of Summerour Studio. Their families hung decorations and prepared tea and custom macarons for the group to share. Two by two, their relatives took a seat, ready to be served tea. It was incredible getting to be a part of this tradition! The act of service and respect Allene and Andy showed their grandparents, parents and aunts and uncles was beautiful. And I know that each family member cherished this time together.
Soon it was ready for their second ceremony! Allene changed dresses and wore a white gown with an iconic pair of Manolo Blahnik heels. She and Andy shared a second first look (so fun!) and we captured some stunning portraits of them in the Summerour courtyard.
The venue is reminiscent of an Italian villa nestled in the heart of Atlanta! From the ivy climbing up the walls to the tall trees, the outside of the venue is romantic while the interior is edgy and industrial. It’s the perfect blend of city and country aesthetics!
Finally, Allene and Andy got married on the steps inside of Summerour followed by portraits in the alley next to the venue. I always have fun shooting in a variety of settings, but the way the light hit this area of the venue was gorgeous! Soft, romantic and industrial. What a fun mix!
